Foster Dogs

There are many reasons a dog might need foster care. Some of the most common include:

  • PAWS do not have sufficient space at the shelter to take the dog in and a foster home is used to care for the dog until space becomes available or until a suitable permanent home is found.

  • A puppy is too young to be adopted and needs a safe place to stay until he or she is old enough to come into the shelter or go to a forever home.

  • A dog is recovering from surgery, illness or injury and needs a safe and quiet place to recuperate.

  • A dog is showing signs of stress due to being in the shelter.

PAWS are indebted to the foster carers who help us out by taking in dogs and puppies. Many a life has been saved due to their and their family’s dedication.

If you feel you can help out with fostering a dog, please contact us. Any time a young dog spends in the family environment improves its chances of finding a permanent home in the future.

All foster dogs are available for re-homing when they are old enough, and or, fit to leave foster care. Please contact the shelter if you are interested in fostering any of our dogs.
