PAWS Charity Shop
The PAWS Charity shop re-opened its doors in May, 2016, after a major expansion which doubled the floor space and provided separate clothing and general items areas.
PAWS would firstly like to thank Michael and Stephanie Driscoll for financing the expansion of the Charity shop. Their financial investment was augmented by their expansive contact base who assisted by providing great deals on supplied materials. In addition to this they also provided their own time and expertise, so a huge thank you to Mike and Steph for everything they have done.
Secondly PAWS is very grateful to the commercial suppliers and tradesmen who were also really generous with many coming at the end of a long day to deliver or fit new fittings. These included:
Tasos from Metal Tee Engineering, Andreas Frangoulides, John Travers, Alex the Locksmith, Gabriel, John Lace Deliveries and Louise from 20/20 graphics. Many thanks to you all for responding in such a short timescale.
Lastly, but by no means least, are the PAWS volunteers well known for their generosity in terms of time and effort expended on behalf of the Charity. On this occasion it involved putting furniture together, moving stock, making tea, sorting books and providing new chairs for the outside area. Well done!
Since opening its doors in 1990, the CAPCA Charity Shop has been located in four other premises in the Paphos area. The location of the current shop is 120 Leoforious Eleftherias, Chlorakas, tel: 97 826 876. It is on the same side of the same street as the previous shop, and as you drive towards Paphos town, it is on the right hand side about 200 metres after you pass PETZSTUFF.
(See the map at the foot of this page.) There is limited parking outside the shop and some off road parking at the side of the building.
The Charity Shop, even in the difficult times of the recent recession, has continued to make a steady and valuable contribution in generating funds for PAWS Dog Shelter.
Stephanie Driscoll, who is now our Shop Consultant, has many years’ experience in the retail trade and has an excellent rapport with staff and customers alike. Stephanie is assisted by a number of willing volunteers who are happy to give their time to sort through donations and of course to serve our multi-national customers.
Steph and her team have introduced a number on innovative schemes to increase the funds that they raise for PAWS. A couple of examples are shown above. Other schemes are regularly notified on the shop Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Pawscharityshop1/
The goods for sale in the shop include seasonal ladies, gents and children’s clothing and footwear. There is jewellery, bags, books, toys and puzzles, videos/DVDs/CDs and tapes. Other popular items sold is a range of household goods such as bedding, curtains, lamps, bric-a-brac and sometimes electrical goods such as TVs, fans, heaters etc. As you will appreciate the majority of our stock is dependent on donations that have been handed in to the shop. We also sell promotional PAWS Dog Shelter merchandise such as T-shirts, Fridge Magnets and of course at Christmas time the ever popular CAPCA calendar which always contains portraits of current and recent PAWS residents. There is a notice board in the shop where, for a nominal monthly fee, we can display adverts for events etc.
Like to help us?
You can do so in any of the following ways. By donating any unwanted, clean, quality clothing and household goods. If possible, we ask that donations be brought in during our store opening hours, as sadly we can experience a problem with items being removed from the shop front outside of opening hours.
By retaining all your old used postage stamps and dropping them off at the shop.
By sparing a few hours a week of your time to join our team of volunteers in the shop.
By becoming one of our regular customers. If you have never been to the shop or have not called in for a while, please pay us a visit. We are sure that you will be impressed both with the warm welcome and the bargains to be found.
Please remember that the abandoned and homeless dogs at PAWS Dog Shelter are dependent on us working together to raise funds so that we can improve the quality of their lives! We are one of the few retailers in the area who welcome dogs into our shop.
THANK YOU to all our loyal customers FOR YOUR SUPPORT !!
